We took the cleaning aspect as of it as it is extremely important for an animal or human alike. To remove germs and other hazardous materials so as to remain healthy.

Doctor fish: Used to clean bathers at the spa.
Reduces Psoriasis (feeling of being itchy)
Birds clean the food off other animals which serves as food for themselves and it cleans the animal in return.
Monkeys: Eat lice, ticks, fleas, bugs from other monkeys for mutual grooming.
Lotus Leaf, Pitcher plant and Morpho Butterfly: Roughened surface reduces adhesive force on water droplets as air is trapped in the interstitial
spaces. Water molecules roll down due to gravity collecting dirt.
Turbo Snail: Eliminates algae by eating large amount of it.
Dogs and Cats: Both poop and cover it with soil. No odour or stink since it decomposes with the soil, Forms manure for plants. Environment friendly.
possible interventions
Since out topic was cleaning, our intervention had to be related to the cleaning aspect only.
inspiration
We took inspiration from 'dogs'. As dogs poop and cover it with soil which eventually becomes manure for plants and trees, we took inspiration from this and designed our concept around it.
public sanitation
Getting inspired by cats and dogs, they defecate and cover it with soil.
Consequently, the concept of Pit Loos. Human excreta is a waste once mixed with water. This concept works best where there is an abundance of soil, namely highways. These portable toilets should preferably be located away from drinking water sources (wells, streams, etc.) to minimize the possibility of disease spread via groundwater pollution.

The soil tank will have a mixture of sand and soil both.
The pit will consist of earthworms that will eat the poop and keep it clean. Since the pit will be of much greater depth there is no possibility of earthworms coming near the defecating area. Areca plants are known to purify the air and keep it clean hence these plants will be installed around the portable toilet which will make sure the area doesn't stink and is always clean.
