Brief
To design an olive oil bottle for spa range for the brand Leonardo.

About the brand
Leonardo Olive Oil was launched in India in 2003 in all three variants – Pomace, Olive Oil-Extra Light and Extra Virgin and has quickly gained a market leader status of 20% of the in-home consumer market. Recently, we have introduced Variant names Cook All, Just Lite and Just Drizzle to help the Indian consumer differentiate between the oil variants as per their usage.

Leonardo wanted to launch an olive oil range exclusively for massages.

form inspiration

Looking for form inspiration in nature, a bud proves to be a perfect example of Care. How care is used in a product provides to be a fitting example for the inspiration. Inspired from the same, exploring some forms for the final product.

The Care

prototype

A wooden model was made in different shapes with various accents to understand the form and ergonomics of the bottle. The final form was then chosen after analyzing the comfort of each shape.
prototype with actual material: glass
Blow molding, in glass production, method of forming an article of glass by blowing molten glass into a mold. This operation is performed with the aid of a hollow metal tube that has a mouthpiece at one end. A gob of molten glass gathered onto the opposite end of the tube is enlarged by a bubble of air blown into it through the tube. This preliminary shape is then lowered into a mold and inflated by blowing until it has assumed the desired shape and pattern. The mold may be constructed of one piece, in which case it is sheared off the glass article, or it may be an open-and-shut device comprised of two parts, which allows the mold to be removed and reused.

Due to the lack of resources, this is the closest I could go to the actual form without the accent of the bottle. This model was made just to get a basic sense of the material and feel of it. The actual bottle will have the accents and the form exactly as shown in the render.
thesis jury

Thesis was then presented to the jury in the form of a graduation booklet and panels.
